In June, some friends of mine in the Sacred Valley took the initiative to step up for members of the community who were struggling with hunger and malnutrition due to the economic hardships exacerbated by the strict governmental restrictions imposed in COVID-19 Lockdown.
As of October 1, they have been able to help feed over 380 people in the 6 different Andean communities, along with serving warm lunches to 85 children every week day. The work to get the food baskets to these families is arduous, as most reside high up in the Andes and most are only accessible by foot (at altitudes nearing 15,000 ft!); each journey involves a 4-6 hour hike.
The Sacred Valley is currently undergoing its second wave of COVID, so their efforts unfortunately must continue. ALL proceeds from this class will go towards their efforts. 100% of the donations they receive go directly to providing food and basic needs to the communities.
